Why there is a gap between your Samsung Galaxy display and frame

Last Update date : Jul 25. 2026

You may notice a small gap between the display and the outer frame of your Galaxy device. A slight gap is intentionally designed to help optimize device performance and accommodate normal movement between parts over time. In most cases, this does not affect the functionality, durability, or water resistance of the device.

Note:

  • All gaps between the display and frame are managed according to Samsung quality standards.
  • If the gap becomes excessively wide, we recommend visiting a Samsung service center for inspection.

A small gap between the display and the outer frame is part of the device design and is necessary to optimize performance. Galaxy devices with water resistance are designed to help prevent water and dust from entering the device.

The designed gap does not affect the device’s water resistance, so you can continue using the device normally.

Temperature changes, external impacts, and friction that may occur during normal daily use can cause the gap to become slightly wider than when the device was first manufactured. This is a natural result of normal use and does not necessarily indicate a problem.

Note: Although the gap may become slightly wider over time, this does not affect the product's performance.

However, if the gap becomes unusually large, visit a Samsung service center for inspection.
